Knights of St Columba

Province 10 - East Anglia and Brentwood

Brentwood Province 10

Welcome Page

Welcome to the Knights of Saint Columba website for Province 10 Brentwood.
We cover the county of Essex and the East end of London.

An Order of Catholic men based on the principles of Charity, Unity, and Fraternity. Our mission is to assist the clergy and hierarchy of the Catholic Church in any way we can. We also support Catholic charities throughout the region, nationally and internationally.

But most importantly we are a family organisation. Our wives and children play an important role – not just in our social lives, but in the day to day running of the Order. Through committee and youth projects they support our aims and goals…

We are a diverse mix of young and old alike, drawn from ethnic Catholic men from across the world, which makes us so strong spiritually.
We cover every major city and town in the province with seventeen Councils covering 90 parishes.

Recently we were charged by the Bishop of Brentwood, Bishop Alan Williams SM, to work with the Dean of Brentwood Cathedral, Father Martin Boland, and the Priest in Charge of Our Lady of Lourdes, Wanstead, to act as guardians of the Relics of St Bernadette as they visited the two locations in the diocese.

We were honoured to undertake this enormous challenge, but with the assistance of ninety-six Knights over the four days we managed car parks, queues to see the relic, and guarded the relic during its stay in the diocese.

Father Martin Boland, Dean of Brentwood Cathedral, said, “Thank you to Liam Rand and the Knights of Saint Columba for their care of the relics and those who came to venerate.”

Father Adrian Lowe, Priest in Charge at Our Lady of Lourdes, Wanstead, said, “My sincere thanks to yourself and all the Knights who supported the visit of the relics of Saint Bernadette. I was struck by how the gentle pastoral nature of you all made the time so special for everyone. Thank you again and know how you brought the face of Jesus to many people that day.”

As an organisation we embrace our national campaign for the next two years, ‘Let the children live’.  I hope you enjoy the film posted on the website made by the children in Columbia, it is truly inspiring.

I hope you enjoy navigating the site and if you are Catholic man, 16 years of age or older I sincerely hope you will consider joining us in the vital work we do every day.

With fraternal blessings to you all,
Brother Liam Rand
